What's Good
BSD-3-Clause (django/django), release 6.1.2 on PyPI (2026-10-06), commit on 2026-10-20. ★~91k (~121 a week), developed since 2005. Useful when you need a database-backed app with users and an admin panel fast, and want a long-term-support release schedule and a huge package ecosystem.
The Catch
It is monolith-shaped and opinionated. Async views work, but much of the ORM still runs through sync adapters. For a JSON API you add Django REST Framework or Django Ninja, or pick FastAPI from the start.
Verdict
Still the fastest route from models to a working app with an admin.
