MIT next-gen frontend tooling — dev server + build

What's Good

MIT. Instant HMR, Rollup-based production builds, first-class TypeScript/JSX, huge plugin ecosystem. Powers Vue, Svelte, React SPAs, and library mode. The hole next to Next.js/Biome/Oxc in a modern JS stack.

The Catch

Bundler/dev-server — not an app framework (routing, SSR, data are yours or a meta-framework). Not Biome/Oxc (lint/format/parser). SSR frameworks built on Vite are separate products.

Verdict

MIT frontend toolchain. Free forever; framework and lint are adjacent gems.
