The CLI itself is open; you can read the code and understand how it works.
The Catch
The CLI is open-source, but the frontier models powering it sit behind ChatGPT Plus, Pro, or Enterprise subscriptions. You are paying OpenAI either way. Feature parity with Claude Code is still catching up.
