What's Good
MIT core. Cloud Free $0 forever: 5 identities, unlimited projects, 3 envs, 10 secret syncs. MIT self-host uncapped at $0.
The Catch
ee/ needs LICENSE_KEY even self-hosted (SSO+, versioning, rotation, dynamic secrets) — authentik enterprise pattern. Stretch: secrets remit. Distinct from authentik (IdP) and from Vault-scale ops.
Verdict
MIT secrets with a real Free forever Cloud hatch. ee/ is the paid carve-out.
