The Catch
Vs Claude Code (paid terminal product) and OpenAI Agents SDK / Google ADK / Microsoft Agent Framework: this is Anthropic’s first-party embeddable agent runtime, not a multi-provider framework and not the Claude Code subscription UI. You still pay Claude API (or auth) tokens; SDK license is MIT, model usage is not free.
Verdict
MIT Anthropic Agent SDK when you want Claude Code’s loop inside your app — not the Claude Code Max plan, not a multi-vendor agent framework.
