Freemium (ampcode.com). Free Agent / Hobby path with BYOK (no Amp token fees on that lane per Sep 2026 Chronicle); paid Individual+ tiers add Amp-hosted capacity. Threads, orbs, CLI↔editor hooks, and team sharing aimed at long-running agent work. Product docs at ampcode.com/docs.
The Catch
Proprietary product (no public OSS repo found) — free lane is BYOK/Hobby, not a self-host MIT binary. Vs Claude Code / Cursor / Roo Code: Amp is Sourcegraph’s orb/thread agent environment, not an Apache VS Code extension and not Anthropic’s terminal Max plan. Individual ~$20/mo when you leave pure BYOK; watch orb/minute limits on paid tiers.
Verdict
Freemium Sourcegraph coding agent when BYOK free + orbs beat another IDE subscription — proprietary; paid when you want Amp-hosted juice.
