Trigger Getting Started

Vendor lock. CLI login + TRIGGER_SECRET_KEY. Self-contained

Trigger.dev · Apache-2.0

When

Bootstrap Trigger.dev into an existing project: CLI login, install @trigger.dev/sdk, write trigger.config.ts, scaffold /trigger, set TRIGGER_SECRET_KEY. Self-contained (runs before SDK install). Not Inngest setup. Distinct from trigger-authoring-tasks.

The Catch

Vendor lock. Needs CLI login + TRIGGER_SECRET_KEY from the dashboard (human steps). Free 0 USD/mo: 5 USD credits/mo, 20 concurrent runs, 10 Realtime connections, 10 schedules, 1-day logs. Do not invent hard-stop phrasing beyond Free needing an upgrade after credits. Distinct from inngest-setup.
