Neon Functions
Long-running Node HTTP on a Neon branch. Public beta
Neon · Apache-2.0
When
Long-running, serverless Node.js HTTP functions deployed onto a Neon branch, with DATABASE_URL injected automatically and compute next to the data. Use when a user wants to host an API, an AI agent with long streaming responses, a WebSocket or SSE server, a webhook handler, a Discord bot, an MCP server, or any request/response workload that risks timing out on short lambda-style serverless — and wants it to branch with their database. Triggers include "Neon Functions", "Neon Compute", "function that won't time out", "run code next to my database", "function logs". Do not use for Browserbase Functions or generic AWS/Vercel lambda work that is not Neon.
The Catch
Public beta. Vendor lock. False-fires on generic serverless — this is Neon Functions, not Vercel/AWS. NAME-COLLIDES with published Browserbase functions; slug is neon-functions, never functions. Free includes Functions capacity; costs past limits.
