What's Good
Real Postgres underneath means you are not locked in. Auth, storage, edge functions, and realtime subscriptions in one platform. The dashboard is genuinely useful. Row-level security enables fine-grained access control.
The Catch
The all-in-one convenience creates dependency. Complex queries hit performance limits. Self-hosting requires significant operational knowledge.
Verdict
The Firebase alternative for developers who want real Postgres.
