What's Good
MIT. Data and media connections in the browser. Free cloud PeerServer or self-host your own signaling. Tiny API for 1:1 and small meshes.
The Catch
Browser P2P WebRTC + optional free signaling — not LiveKit/mediasoup media-server rooms. Larger groups need a media server (SFU-class), not PeerJS alone. Distinct from LiveKit and mediasoup.
Verdict
MIT P2P WebRTC. Free signaling path; not a rooms SFU.
