What's Good
GPL-3.0 (lldap/lldap), release v0.6.3 (2026-04-30), written in Rust. Simple to set up (no slapd), low on resources, with a web UI for users and groups and email password resets. It integrates with Keycloak, Authelia, Nextcloud, Gitea and many other LDAP-aware services, and the README lists known-compatible and incompatible apps. ★~6.6k.
The Catch
It is deliberately not a full LDAP server: schema and features are limited, so some enterprise apps will not work. Still 0.x. Pair it with an SSO layer like Authelia for modern login flows.
Verdict
The easiest LDAP backend for a self-hosted stack.
