CC0-1.0 (public domain dedication). justfile recipes with clear errors, args, .env loading, modules. Not a build graph — a command runner. Cross-platform binary, huge community.
The Catch
Modern Makefile replacement; not Taskfile this wave. No implicit build DAG like Make. You still pick how CI invokes recipes. Distinct from package.json scripts if the repo is polyglot.
Verdict
CC0 command runner. Free forever; Taskfile is a different gem later.
