## When it is useful

Building Vespa YQL queries and rank profiles: operators, hybrid BM25 + nearestNeighbor, rank-profile phases, grouping, ML model integration, query tensor inputs.

## The Catch

Apache-2.0 from the repo LICENSE; SKILL.md declares none. Engine is Apache-2.0 and free to self-host forever; Vespa Cloud is a free trial only ($300 credits, no card, app stops when credits run out) — not forever-$0 Cloud. YQL and multi-phase ranking are the point — not Elastic Query DSL, not Algolia relevance settings, not a Pinecone top-k call. Ranking expressions are powerful and easy to make slow; test phases on real data.
