## The Hook

zoxide remembers where you actually work and turns `z api` into the right folder.

## What's Good

MIT Rust binary. Works across bash/zsh/fish/nushell/PowerShell and friends. Frecent ranking, interactive `zi` with fzf, drop-in replacement habits for `cd`. Tiny and fast.

## The Catch

Directory jumper only — not a file manager (Yazi), not a shell, not Atuin history. Needs a one-line shell init. Ranking learns from you; fresh machines feel empty until you walk around.

## Verdict

MIT frecent cd. Free forever when your muscle memory is folders, not full paths.
