## The Hook

Windmill is scripts-as-jobs with auto UIs and agent steps when Temporal is the heavy cluster and n8n is the fair-code canvas.

## What's Good

AGPLv3 core. Turn TS/Python/Go/Bash/SQL into webhooks, schedules, DAG flows, and apps. CE self-host: unlimited executions, 3 workspaces, 50 users. Fast Rust job engine; MCP/agent tooling in flows. Cloud also has a free OSS tier.

## The Catch

Vs Temporal/Hatchet/n8n: script+UI internal platform, not Temporal durable SDK alone or n8n canvas. LOUD: CE caps (4 groups, 10 SSO users, no durable audit logs, limited Git sync); Enterprise from ~$120/mo + seats/compute. Binary CE includes proprietary bits; from-source without enterprise flag is AGPL.

## Verdict

AGPLv3 workflow/agent platform. CE self-host free with caps; EE for audit/SAML/scale.
