## The Hook

VoltAgent is the TypeScript agent engineering platform: typed agents, workflows, MCP, and an optional VoltOps ops console.

## What's Good

MIT (@voltagent/core). Memory, RAG, guardrails, tools, MCP, voice, supervisor/sub-agents, workflow engine. Deploy Node or serverless (Workers/edge). VoltOps Console (cloud or self-host) for observability/evals/deploy — not required to build.

## The Catch

Vs Mastra (TS runtime) and CrewAI/Agno (Python): VoltAgent is TS framework + platform surface, not a terminal coding agent. VoltOps is the paid/hosted ops layer; core stays MIT. Framework lock-in applies — you are building agents, not buying Claude Code.

## Verdict

MIT TypeScript agent framework. VoltOps optional; core is the gem.
