## The Hook

Video.js is the long-running open-source web video player; v10 rebuilds it as modular, composable pieces for plain HTML and React.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0 (videojs/video.js). v10 is marked stable in the README, with design RFCs in the repo. Agent-friendly: a Video.js skill (github.com/videojs/skills) plus `npx @videojs/cli agents init`, which prints version-matched install steps without modifying your project. Docs at videojs.org. ★~39.9k.

## The Catch

v10 is a rewrite, so v8-era plugins and tutorials will not drop in — check what you depend on before upgrading. It is a player, not hosting or transcoding: you still need a video source and a CDN. Vs a bare `<video>` tag: worth it when you need consistent controls, skins, and streaming formats across browsers.

## Verdict

Apache-2.0 default web video player. Use v10 for new HTML/React players; audit plugins before migrating an old one.
