## The Hook

VictoriaLogs is a lightweight, schema-free log database from the VictoriaMetrics team that runs with zero config and scales from a tiny single node to terabytes per day.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0 (VictoriaMetrics/VictoriaLogs), release v1.53.0 (2026-10-01). Both single-node and cluster versions are open source and free. It accepts logs from common shippers and OpenTelemetry, queries with LogsQL, includes a web UI and a Grafana plugin, and has playgrounds that translate SQL and LogQL to LogsQL. Binaries and Docker images on Docker Hub and Quay. ★~2.4k.

## The Catch

LogsQL is its own query language, so Loki or Elasticsearch users must relearn queries. The repo was split out from VictoriaMetrics in 2025, so the star count understates its age. Enterprise features and support come from VictoriaMetrics Inc.

## Verdict

The lowest-ops log store we know — easy to run, cheap on disk.
