## The Hook

Uptrace is an open-source APM built on OpenTelemetry that puts traces, metrics and logs in one UI, stored in ClickHouse, with a query builder, dashboards and alerting.

## What's Good

AGPL-3.0 (uptrace/uptrace), latest release v2.1.0-rc.1 (2026-10-07). 50+ pre-built dashboards appear automatically as metrics arrive, plus a service graph, chart annotations, an SQL-like language for spans and a PromQL-like language for metrics, and notifications by email, Slack, webhook or AlertManager. The project says one server can process billions of spans and metrics. ★~4.3k.

## The Catch

You run ClickHouse and PostgreSQL alongside it. The newest release is a release candidate, so pin a stable version for production. AGPL-3.0, and some features are reserved for the hosted and enterprise editions. Smaller community than SigNoz.

## Verdict

A lean OTel-native APM — compare it with SigNoz and pick the UI you like.
