## The Hook

Task is the YAML task runner when your team wants Taskfile includes, vars, and deps without Make syntax or a justfile.

## What's Good

MIT. go-task/task. Single Go binary reads `Taskfile.yml`: tasks, deps, vars, dotenv, includes, and watch. Docs at taskfile.dev; source github.com/go-task/task. Feels like a small CI graph you run locally.

## The Catch

Vs just (CC0 *justfile* command runner): Task is *Taskfile.yml* with includes/deps as a first-class YAML graph — not a thin twin of just, and not Make’s implicit DAG. Still a command runner, not a build system or package manager. Pick one runner per repo or you will confuse newcomers.

## Verdict

MIT Taskfile runner. Free forever; just stays the justfile gem, Task owns Taskfile.yml.
