## The Hook

stripe/ai (formerly agent-toolkit) gives agents Stripe tools — create customers, products, payment links and invoices — through an MCP server or SDK integrations for frameworks such as the OpenAI Agents SDK and Vercel AI SDK.

## What's Good

MIT (stripe/ai). Stripe also hosts a remote MCP server at mcp.stripe.com with OAuth, so you can connect without running anything. Restricted API keys limit which actions the agent can take.

## The Catch

Tool calls act on your real Stripe account, so start in test mode with a restricted key. There are no GitHub releases — track the npm and PyPI packages instead. Vs stripe-cli (a terminal tool for developers to forward webhooks and inspect events): this is the toolkit an agent uses to call the Stripe API.

## Verdict

The official way to give an agent Stripe actions — test mode and restricted keys first.
