## The Hook

Skyvern automates browser workflows by having an LLM read the page with computer vision and decide what to click and type, instead of following hand-written XPath or CSS selectors.

## What's Good

AGPL-3.0 (Skyvern-AI/skyvern), release v1.0.56 (2026-10-14), pushed 2026-10-19. ★~23.2k in about 138 weeks (~168 a week). Useful when the sites you automate change layout often or when you run the same task across many different sites, so per-site selector scripts keep breaking. Self-hosting is free.

## The Catch

AGPL-3.0: if you offer a hosted service built on Skyvern, you must publish your changes to it. The managed Skyvern Cloud is paid; the free path is running it yourself, and you still pay for the LLM calls that drive each step.

## Verdict

Pick it when selectors are the thing that keeps breaking; self-host it to keep it free.
