## The Hook

scriptc is a Vercel Labs AOT compiler that turns TypeScript/JavaScript into typed IR, readable C, LLVM IR, native executables, and Wasm — without embedding Node in the binary.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0 (vercel-labs/scriptc). Free via `npm install -g scriptc` (npm 0.1.7). Uses the TypeScript compiler for parse/typecheck, then emits IR/C/LLVM/asm/obj/native/Wasm; static builds ship a small native runtime with no Node or JS engine. Docs at scriptc.dev. ★5,466 on GitHub 2026-09-28.

## The Catch

Vs Bun: Bun is a runtime+pkg toolkit; scriptc is AOT compile-out. Vs Deno: Deno is a runtime; scriptc is a compiler. Vs Oxc: Oxc is parser/lint tooling substrate; scriptc emits native/Wasm. Labs experiment; requires Node ≥24; young (~2 months) — expect sharp edges and fast churn.

## Verdict

Apache-2.0 AOT TS/JS→native when you want executables/Wasm without embedding Node — not Bun, not Deno, not Oxc; experimental Labs heat.
