## The Hook

ripwire, from Red Hat's Emerging Technologies group, gives a coding agent a ranked call graph of your repo before it starts reading files, and after an edit it reports blast radius, which tests reach the change, and quality signals that got worse.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0 (redhat-et/ripwire), release v0.6.7 (2026-10-11). A single C++23 binary with no runtime dependencies that runs offline; prebuilt for macOS on Apple silicon and Linux arm64/x86-64, with a Windows preview. Commands answer callers, what an edit touches, which tests to run, forgotten co-changes and duplicate names, and a skill scanner checks agent skill files before you install them. The installer also adds task-shaped skills for Claude Code and Codex so the agent knows when to call it, and an MCP server is optional. Languages include Rust, C++, C, Python, Go, Swift and TypeScript. ★~2.5k.

## The Catch

The README is very long and leans on a field report written by a model about one engagement, which is not a controlled measurement; the repo has a separate EVALS doc, so read that instead. The one-line install pipes a script from GitHub into bash. Young and pre-1.0, and languages without a grammar fall back to weaker results, which it labels. It overlaps with Serena and Repomix for repo context.

## Verdict

A serious, offline repo map for agents — trust the evals doc over the marketing.
