## The Hook

procs is the readable `ps` when you want color, tree, and machine-readable rows without memorizing `ps aux` dialects.

## What's Good

MIT. dalance/procs. Modern process list with themes, keyword/filter UX, tree view, and JSON/CSV export. Drop-in muscle memory for “what is running” on the box you SSH’d into. Source github.com/dalance/procs.

## The Catch

Vs btop (host *resource* TUI with CPU/mem/disk/net/GPU): procs is the modern *ps*, not a live metrics dashboard. Not multi-host observability. Keep `ps` when POSIX scripts expect its exact columns.

## Verdict

MIT modern ps. Free forever; list processes you can actually read (and pipe as JSON).
