## The Hook

PostgREST turns your Postgres schema, views, and RLS into a standards-shaped REST API — no hand-rolled CRUD layer.

## What's Good

MIT (PostgREST/postgrest). Single binary: expose tables/views/functions over HTTP with JWT + Postgres RLS as the authz model. Battle-tested (~28k★); docs at postgrest.org. Pairs cleanly with Supabase-shaped stacks or bare Postgres.

## The Catch

Vs Prisma/Drizzle (typed app ORMs) and Hasura (GraphQL instant API): PostgREST is REST-from-schema, not an ORM and not GraphQL. Complex business workflows still want app code; you lean on SQL views/RPCs and RLS design instead of controllers.

## Verdict

MIT REST-for-Postgres. Schema+RLS as API vs ORM/GraphQL twins; SQL-first teams win.
