## The Hook

Perses is a CNCF dashboard tool for observability data — Prometheus metrics, Tempo traces, Loki logs and Pyroscope profiles — built around an open, GitOps-friendly dashboard specification.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0 (perses/perses), release v0.54.0 (2026-07-29). Dashboards are defined as code and can be validated in CI, a plugin system extends data sources and panels, and npm packages let you embed panels and dashboards in your own UI. Runs as a single binary or container, with a Kubernetes operator. ★~2.5k.

## The Catch

Still 0.x and much younger than Grafana, with far fewer plugins and data sources. Best suited to teams that want dashboards-as-code or embedding, not a full Grafana replacement today.

## Verdict

Watch it if you want vendor-neutral dashboards as code; most teams still default to Grafana.
