## The Hook

OpenSRE is an Apache SRE agent you can self-host for zero dollars — Dockerfile plus your own LLM — if you refuse the hosted-model quickstart.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0 (Tracer-Cloud/opensre). No license rider. Real zero-dollar path is the self-host Dockerfile with LLM_PROVIDER (Ollama is in .env.example) and OPENSRE_NO_TELEMETRY=1. Installer at install.opensre.com; release v0.1.2026.10.3. Not paid-only — /pricing returns 404. ★~11,349 in about 58 weeks (~196 a week): fast, but not inflated.

## The Catch

The quickstart sign-in turns on their hosted model. That is not the free path — self-host with LLM_PROVIDER and set OPENSRE_NO_TELEMETRY=1 if you do not want telemetry. Vs AURA (Mezmo): AURA is an Apache MCP-ready incident harness wired to your observability stack; OpenSRE is the self-host SRE agent with an explicit Ollama provider, not Mezmo specialist incident team. Stars grow fast: judge the self-host loop, not the counter.

## Verdict

Apache self-host SRE agent when you bring Ollama and skip the hosted-model sign-in — not AURA incident team; hosted quickstart is not zero-dollar.
