## The Hook

OpenMeter meters usage events first. The hosted twin is no longer a standalone Cloud page.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0. Pitch is OSS docker compose: clone, cd quickstart, docker compose up. CloudEvents ingest, meters, entitlements, billing blocks. README: releases are beta and can include breaking changes.

## The Catch

Cloud is now Kong Konnect Metering — do not reprint Kong tiles. Distinct from Lago: usage-event metering first, not AGPL usage-billing with no hobby cloud. Compose is a local evaluation stack (Kafka/ClickHouse), not production topology.

## Verdict

Apache-2.0 metering you compose locally. Hosted path is Kong; README is beta.
