## The Hook

OpenAI Agents SDK is the MIT framework for multi-agent workflows — tools, handoffs, tracing, and MCP in Python (plus a JS/TS sibling).

## What's Good

MIT (openai/openai-agents-python; JS at openai/openai-agents-js). `pip install openai-agents`. Agents, tools, handoffs, sessions, tracing, voice/realtime extras, sandbox agents (beta). MCP via stdio/HTTP. Provider-agnostic enough for non-OpenAI models; first-class Responses/Chat Completions paths. Docs at openai.github.io/openai-agents-python.

## The Catch

Vs openai-codex-cli (terminal coding agent), Vercel AI SDK (app AI primitives), and Microsoft Agent Framework: this is the workflow SDK, not the Codex CLI seat. OpenAI API keys and hosted tools meter; sandbox/realtime extras add surface area. Do not confuse with ChatGPT product seats.
