## The Hook

OneDev is a self-hosted development platform that bundles Git hosting, pull requests, CI/CD pipelines, issue boards and language-aware code search in one Java server.

## What's Good

MIT (theonedev/onedev), release v16.9.3 (2026-10-17), developed since 2018. Symbol search and navigation work in any commit, code is annotated with coverage and problems from CI, and discussions attach to code and diffs. Code protection rules can require review or CI for specific files and branches, Kanban boards can move tasks automatically on commit or deploy, and Renovate is integrated. Server and agents run on Linux and Windows (amd64/arm64) and Apple Silicon macOS. ★~15.3k.

## The Catch

It is one big Java application, heavier than Gitea or Gogs. Starting with 16.9.0, Intel Macs and FreeBSD are no longer supported. Issues and PRs live on the project's own instance (code.onedev.io), not GitHub, so the GitHub repo is a mirror. Fewer third-party integrations than GitLab.

## Verdict

An underrated all-in-one GitLab alternative — strong if you want CI and code intelligence in one box.
