## The Hook

Nx is a monorepo tool for TypeScript and polyglot codebases: it caches task outputs, runs only what a change affects, and understands your project graph so builds and tests stay fast as the repo grows.

## What's Good

MIT (nrwl/nx), release 23.3.0 (2026-10-07), with commits daily. Its core is built in Rust. Run npx nx init in an existing npm, pnpm or yarn workspace and it picks up your package.json scripts without a rewrite. Plugins for many frameworks, plus generators and a project graph viewer. ★~29.4k.

## The Catch

Remote caching and distributed CI run through Nx Cloud, a paid service with a free tier. Plugins and generators add their own conventions and upgrade churn. For a small repo, Turborepo or plain workspaces are lighter.

## Verdict

The most complete monorepo toolkit for JavaScript teams.
