## The Hook

Nextra is a site generation framework on top of Next.js that turns MDX files into documentation sites or blogs, with ready-made docs and blog themes.

## What's Good

MIT (shuding/nextra), last docs-theme release 4.6.1 (2025-12-04), with commits into July 2026. Built on the Next.js App Router, with search, syntax highlighting and an MDX-first workflow. Used for many well-known project docs. ★~13.9k.

## The Catch

Development has slowed: no release since December 2025. It is tied to Next.js, and moving between major versions has meant real migration work. Fumadocs is the more active alternative.

## Verdict

Fine for simple Next.js docs; check Fumadocs for new projects.
