## The Hook

Mise is asdf without the wait, plus tasks and env in one TOML file.

## What's Good

MIT. Install Node, Python, Ruby, Go, and the rest from one CLI. mise.toml pins versions, env, and tasks. Drop-in asdf plugin compatibility for most tools. Written in Rust by Jeff Dickey (rtx).

## The Catch

Not a container runtime and not direnv-only. Some asdf plugins still assume bash. Team-wide adoption means every laptop runs mise, or CI drifts.

## Verdict

The version manager to install in 2026. MIT, fast, one toml.
