## The Hook

microsoft/mcp is Microsoft’s home for official MCP servers, led by the Azure MCP Server, which lets an agent list and manage Azure resources, storage, databases and monitoring from one place.

## What's Good

MIT (microsoft/mcp). One repo for Microsoft-maintained servers and templates, with packages on npm, NuGet and PyPI and VS Code integration. Uses your existing Azure identity, so access follows your role assignments.

## The Catch

Most servers need an Azure subscription or a sign-in to a Microsoft tenant before they do anything useful. Release tags are per package, so check which server a release belongs to.

## Verdict

The official route to Azure from an agent — if you already live in Azure.
