## The Hook

MCP for Blender (formerly blender-mcp) connects Blender to Claude, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, OpenCode and peers: an addon opens a socket inside Blender and the MCP server lets the agent build, inspect, and modify scenes from a prompt.

## What's Good

MIT (ahujasid/mcp-for-blender). PyPI `mcp-for-blender` v2.1.5 (old `uvx blender-mcp` still works). `uvx mcp-for-blender setup` finds your MCP clients, adds a `blender` entry (keeps a `.bak`), and installs the addon. Pulls Poly Haven assets, Sketchfab and Poly Pizza models; can call Tripo/Hyper3D Rodin/Hunyuan3D generation. Multiple Blender instances via `--port`. ★~30k.

## The Catch

Exec: `execute_blender_code` runs arbitrary Python inside Blender — save your work and do not point it at production files you can’t lose. Telemetry: a minimal anonymous usage record (install ID, tool name, success, timing, versions, OS) is sent by default; content capture is opt-in; set `DISABLE_TELEMETRY=true` to stop it all. Keyless AI 3D generation is a paid Premium line (tiers listed from $10). Third-party, not made by Blender. Vs cli-anything (generic app→CLI hub) and text-to-cad (parametric CAD/STEP): this is the scene/asset loop for Blender itself.

## Verdict

MIT Blender MCP when agents should block out 3D scenes and pull free assets — not CAD; disable default telemetry and treat code-exec like a shell.
