## What's Good

Apache-2.0 (lastmile-ai/mcp-agent). Purpose-built for Model Context Protocol: connect MCP tools/resources/prompts, Anthropic-style composable workflow patterns, and optional Temporal durability for pause/resume/recover. CLI (`uvx mcp-agent`), docs at docs.mcp-agent.com. Self-host the stack; deploy path exists when you want it.

## The Catch

Vs FastMCP (build MCP servers), Agno/VoltAgent/AG2 (general agent frameworks), and SuperGateway/mcp-remote (transport glue): mcp-agent is MCP-first agent runtime + durable workflows, not a coding CLI and not transport plumbing. LastMile cloud deploy/login is optional — day-one is OSS you run. Temporal ops are yours if you turn durability on.
