## The Hook

M3E Canvas lets you sketch Material 3 Expressive screens in the browser — drag in buttons, app bars, cards and dialogs, link screens with taps — then copy a prompt you paste into Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or Cursor to build the app.

## What's Good

MIT (lnkiai/m3e-canvas), a static Next.js app with no backend: everything is saved in your browser's localStorage, and the hosted demo needs no account. Phone (412×892) and desktop (1280×800) screens, seven color themes, real M3 Expressive loading indicators, PNG export, and docs in English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Self-host with npm run build. ★~9.3k.

## The Catch

Only Material 3 Expressive — no other design systems, and it is a wireframe-to-prompt tool, not a full design editor like Penpot. Work lives in localStorage, so clearing your browser loses it. No tagged releases yet and the repo is about six weeks old. What you get out is a prompt, so the final app is only as good as your coding agent. Stars have climbed very fast for a repo opened in September 2026 (about 1,410 a week), so don't read the count as proof of adoption.

## Verdict

A fast, free way to sketch an Android-style app and hand it to a coding agent — perfect if you are already targeting Material 3.
