## The Hook

LibreChat is the self-hosted chat UI that already speaks Agents, MCP, and skills — not another thin OpenAI wrapper.

## What's Good

MIT (danny-avila/LibreChat). Multi-provider chat (OpenAI-compatible endpoints and beyond), Agents, MCP/tool wiring, and skills-shaped workflows in one Docker-friendly UI. Product + docs at librechat.ai. Large community (~44k★) and active releases.

## The Catch

Vs Open WebUI / AnythingLLM (local RAG chat UIs): LibreChat leans hard into Agents/MCP/skills orchestration and multi-provider routing, not only RAG chat. You own auth, model keys, vector/DB ops, and upgrade discipline — the OSS UI is free; the models and infra are not.
