## The Hook

KEDA scales Kubernetes workloads on events — queue depth, stream lag, cron schedules, database queries, HTTP traffic — including scaling to zero when nothing is waiting.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0, a CNCF Graduated project (kedacore/keda), release v2.21.0. Plugs into the built-in Horizontal Pod Autoscaler rather than replacing it, and ships dozens of scalers for Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, Redis, Prometheus and more. Install with Helm or the operator. ★~10.6k.

## The Catch

Only useful if you already run a Kubernetes cluster. You write a ScaledObject or ScaledJob rule for each event source and tune thresholds yourself, and scale-from-zero adds cold-start latency for the first event.

## Verdict

The standard way to autoscale Kubernetes on queues and events — if you are already on Kubernetes.
