## The Hook

GoReleaser is release engineering as YAML when your Go binary needs multi-OS archives, checksums, and brew taps without a hand-rolled CI script.

## What's Good

MIT OSS. goreleaser/goreleaser. Single config ships cross-compiled builds, archives, checksums/SBOM hooks, Docker images, and package managers (Homebrew et al.). Docs goreleaser.com; active releases. Source github.com/goreleaser/goreleaser.

## The Catch

GoReleaser *Pro* is a paid closed-source distribution (extra installers, air-gap, NPM publish, AI notes, etc.). The MIT OSS CLI covers most open-source Go release lanes — do not confuse Pro marketing with the free binary. Vs hand Makefile + gh release: you still own signing keys, registry auth, and tag discipline.

## Verdict

MIT Go release CLI. Free forever OSS path; Pro is optional paid power, not required to ship a tag.
