## The Hook

Kratos is a lightweight Go framework for microservices: API-first development with Protobuf, generated HTTP and gRPC code, and small explicit APIs for transport, middleware, registry, config and logging.

## What's Good

MIT (go-kratos/kratos), release v3.0.0 (2026-06-26). One transport layer for HTTP and gRPC, composable middleware for recovery, tracing, metrics and auth, plus a CLI for code generation. It started at Bilibili. ★~26k.

## The Catch

Not Ory Kratos, the identity server with the same name. v3 is fresh, and many guides still target v2. A lot of the community and examples are Chinese-language.

## Verdict

A well-structured choice for Protobuf-first Go microservices.
