## The Hook

git-bug is a distributed, offline-first bug tracker whose issues live in the git repository — push/pull remotes instead of a hosted tracker SaaS.

## What's Good

GPL-3.0+ (not AGPL) (git-bug/git-bug). Mature since 2018. brew / scoop / binaries / source free. Bugs travel with the repo for air-gapped and offline workflows; bridge to hosted trackers via remotes when you need sync.

## The Catch

Not an agent product — offline-first bugs in git. Vs GitHub/GitLab/Linear: hosted trackers win on UI and notifications; git-bug wins when the issue database must survive without a network and stay colocated with history. Overnight HN heat is discovery, not a new category.

## Verdict
