## What's Good

Install the @google/gemini-cli package globally for a terminal agent backed by Gemini 3 with a 1M-token context window. Built-in Google Search grounding, file ops, command execution, web fetch, and MCP extensions. Apache 2.0, GitHub Action for PR review and issue triage, headless JSON mode for scripts.

## The Catch

Gemini-bound lock-in—not model-agnostic like Goose or Crush. Consumer cutoff 2026-06-18: free/Pro/Ultra access dies; enterprise and API keys stay. Do not bet a workflow on the old Google-login quota path. The OSS CLI remains. Antigravity CLI is the successor, not a 1:1 swap. Preview/nightly channels move fast; pin stable for production workflows. Enterprise path pushes you toward Vertex AI and Google Cloud project setup.

## Verdict

Google terminal agent. OSS CLI remains, but consumer quota was cut 2026-06-18; Antigravity (agy) is the consumer path. Gemini-bound by design.
