## The Hook

Gatus is a developer-oriented status page and uptime checker: you define endpoints in YAML, check them over HTTP, ICMP, TCP or DNS, and assert conditions on status code, response time, body or certificate expiry.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0 (TwiN/gatus), release v5.37.0 (2026-09-24). A single Go service or Docker image, configured entirely in YAML, so checks live in git. Conditions are expressions like `[STATUS] == 200` or `[RESPONSE_TIME] < 300`, and alerts go to Slack, Teams, PagerDuty, Discord, email, Matrix, Gotify, n8n and many more. It can store results in memory, SQLite or Postgres and runs well inside Kubernetes. ★~12.3k.

## The Catch

Config is YAML-only, with no UI for adding checks, which is great for GitOps and less great for non-engineers. It checks from wherever you run it, so you need a second location if you want to catch outages of that host itself. Suites are still marked alpha. A managed Gatus.io exists if you would rather not host it.

## Verdict

The uptime checker for teams that want status checks in git — pick it over Uptime Kuma if YAML beats clicking.
