## The Hook

The Firecrawl MCP server gives an agent Firecrawl’s scraping tools — turn pages into clean markdown, search the web, parse files, crawl and map sites — through one MCP connection.

## What's Good

MIT (firecrawl/firecrawl-mcp-server), release v3.2.1. Use the hosted endpoint or run `npx firecrawl-mcp` locally, optionally pointed at a self-hosted Firecrawl. A keyless hosted tier lets you try it with no account.

## The Catch

Without an API key only scrape, search and parse work, and they are rate-limited; crawl, map and agent need a key and paid credits. Vs firecrawl (the scraping engine and API itself, AGPL-3.0): this is just the MIT MCP bridge to it.

## Verdict

The quickest way to put Firecrawl in an agent — try keyless, add a key once you need crawling.
