## The Hook

eza is the maintained `ls` upgrade — colors, git status, tree view — when stock ls is too quiet and exa went quiet for real.

## What's Good

EUPL-1.2. eza-community/eza. Rust rewrite/successor to exa: icons, hyperlinks, git integration, mounts, and recursive tree modes. Homepage eza.rocks; crates.io/eza. Drops into shell aliases as `ls`/`ll` without teaching a new paradigm.

## The Catch

License is EUPL-1.2 (OSI-approved copyleft), not MIT/Apache like bat or fd — read it before you embed eza in a proprietary binary distribution. Vs bat (file *contents* pager) and yazi (full FM): eza lists directories; it is not a pager or a file manager. Feature flags and icon fonts vary by terminal.
