## The Hook

emcee generates an MCP server from an OpenAPI spec so Claude Desktop and other MCP clients can call an existing HTTP API like a plugin — pass the OpenAPI URL and go.

## What's Good

MIT (mattt/emcee). Homebrew tap, trivial Claude Desktop config (`emcee https://…/openapi.json`), docs/site at emcee.sh. Best when the API already has a decent OpenAPI and you do not want a hand-written MCP wrapper.

## The Catch

Vs mcp-use / Composio / Klavis: emcee is a thin OpenAPI→MCP generator, not a managed OAuth toolkit marketplace or fullstack MCP framework. Garbage OpenAPI → garbage tools; auth/scopes still need careful client config.

## Verdict

MIT OpenAPI→MCP primitive when you already ship a clean spec and want Claude/MCP clients on it in minutes.
