## The Hook

Effect is the TypeScript toolkit for production systems — typed errors, fibers, streams, and schema — not another Zod twin.

## What's Good

MIT (Effect-TS/effect). Full runtime+stdlib shape: Effect type for typed failure, concurrency/fibers, streaming, scheduling, and Schema. Docs and ecosystem at effect.website. Serious adoption (~16k★) for TS backends that outgrew Promise soup.

## The Catch

Vs Zod/Valibot (schema validation): Effect Schema is one piece; Effect is a whole effect system and runtime, not a drop-in validator. Learning curve and import surface are real — teams that only need parse/validate should stay on Zod/Valibot.

## Verdict

MIT TS effect system. Production toolkit vs Zod/Valibot validation-only; steep but coherent.
