## The Hook

Echo is a minimalist Go web framework built on the standard net/http package: a fast router, request binding and validation, middleware and central error handling for APIs and web apps.

## What's Good

MIT (labstack/echo), release v5.4.0 (2026-09-27), around since 2015, with v5 the current line. Radix-tree routing, route groups with middleware at any level, binding for JSON, XML and forms, and a deep middleware ecosystem. Works with standard handlers through echo.WrapHandler. ★~32.8k.

## The Catch

v5 brought breaking changes, so older tutorials target v4. With Go 1.22 and later the standard library router covers many simple cases. Gin has a larger ecosystem.

## Verdict

A clean, well-maintained choice for Go HTTP APIs.
